Everyday Greatness is a compilation of short stories and quotes that had been originally published by Readers Digest. Every Greatness not only includes the Readers Digest stories and quotes but also commentaries by Stephen R. Covey.
The stories are broken down into various chapters and subchapters such as Courage, Respect, or Adaptability.
Although you can read the book cover to cover, I have found it more enjoyable to either just open to a random page and read various stories or open to a topic that I might be interested in reading about at the time.
I found the Readers Digest stories engaging, entertaining, and enlightening. The quotes were inspirational. However, in most cases, I didn’t find Mr. Covey’s comments to be particularly helpful to me. I almost felt that Mr. Covey was telling me how I should interpret the stories and apply them to my life rather than allowing me to do so for myself.
I would have to rate the book in two different ways: first, I rate the Readers Digest stories and quotes a 4 out of 5 stars, second, I would rate Mr. Coveys comments 2 out of 5 stars.
Overall I give this book a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Isn’t Steven Covey a practicing member of the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon)?
