Do you ever wonder why certain people come into your life when they do?
I have found that the people who have come into and had the greatest impact on my life have done so at the most unexpected times.
Recently, I have become quite friendly with a person who I have known for just a few short months. Our friendship has grown because, to state the obvious about friendships, we seem to have a lot in common and are similar in certain ways – most notably some of our philosophies about life, spirituality, relationships, and our drive.
We both have dreams and goals that we are working very hard to make become a reality.
The other day I spent an afternoon away from the office helping this friend with a project he has been working on that is part of his efforts towards making his dream a reality.
Why did I take an afternoon off from work to help my friend?
Because when I talk to him about his dream I can see in his eyes his desire to make that dream become a reality. I can hear it in his voice. And, in him, I see myself – I see in him the fire that lives inside of me.
Not only did I help him because he is a friend and I am happy to give of myself to my friends but I did so because I believe in the idea “what goes around comes around” – or what some people and cultures call karma.
The Bible tells us “A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7)
I believe that if we learn to give of ourselves in a way that is helpful to others and spreads goodwill, then someday God will unlock the doors for us that we need to walk through to get to the place we want to be.
While I don’t think there is any kind of scorecard being kept that tracks how much good we do, I do find that the more I give of myself, the more the breaks seem to come my way.
If we read further in Galatians we are told “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
It is faith in these words that gives me the hope that somehow God will bring across my path someone who may help me realize my dream. And it is my faith in God and the fact that he has a plan for me that gives me the ability to persevere in my continued chase to fulfill my dreams.
What is my dream?
If you are reading this then you are experiencing part of my dream.
I love writing and the fact that people enjoy reading what I have to say; especially when someone comes to me and tells me that my writing has somehow made a difference in their life. So I dream of the day that my words might get more widely published and distributed.
My friends girlfriend has been reading my articles. She told me that she wants to introduce me to her uncle. It turns out that her uncle owns a large publishing company that publishes spiritual/religious books…
Isn’t it funny how God seems to make things work out!
What are your dreams? Have you started sowing the seeds of goodwill that will eventually reap you the harvest of your dreams?

Elmer, your article blessed me. As I read your words I felt them. I am like you in the desire to help people, especially when my help assists others in reaching their goals, dreams, desires, sometimes just needs. When I think of God’s sacrifice, the ultimate sacrifice, His Son, dying on the cross so that we can reach our dreams of salvation and eternal life, I’m overwhelmed with thanksgiving. If God can do all that the Bible says he does, the least we can do is lend a helping hand to someone else. Your Whisper of God ministry has been a daily blessing to me. I’m praying for you that your doors will burst forth and you will achieve your earthly dream. I will be first in line to buy your book!

Oh but there IS a scorecard in heaven of what we do and the bible does say that we will receive our crowns in heaven for our good deeds done on this earth.
Also I call meeting your friend a “Divine Appointment” that isn’t really the words in the bible, but its someone that you were destined to have met by God and he brings them into your life for a reason, i meet people all the time, that God has called me to, homeless people for one, which is my heart, to help them and get them off of the streets, and my heart is to see EVERYONE born again so God told me to “ASk for 2 or 3 DIVINE APPTS AND i do and I meet people to share the gospel and its as simple as “Do you know Jesus? People make it so hard to share God or they are afraid what they will say, but time is so SHORT and we NEED to be abour our Father’s Business, so find what God has called you to do and do it, for God says that we are NOT to waste our GIFTS but to USE them for His Glory be blessed
