Being Firmly Planted

Thought for the Day
“God created the oak tree, which grows tall, straight, and strong. He also created the palm, which bends and sways in the changing winds. We need to learn to adopt the traits of both so we can be strong yet flexible – so we can weather the storms of life yet not break when life’s winds blow too hard.”

Today’s Word
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever they do prospers.” (Psalm 1:1-3)

Today’s Prayer
Father, let me stand strong with my roots planted firmly in Your Word. It is in Your Word that I find my strength comes. Without You, I would be only like dried leaves, with no direction other than the way the wind might carry me that day. Amen.

Personal Reflection
If you have stood firmly against temptation, to whom do you owe the glory – yourself or God for giving you the strength to not become uprooted?
