Judging Others

Thought for the Day
“Many times, too quickly, we judge and condemn others. To be a judge you need to be given all of the facts and see both sides of a story. Do we really know what someone’s life is like before we judge? Are we not stepping on God’s toes by saying we see all He sees and are perfect enough to do His job for Him?”

Today’s Word
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:1-5 NIV)

Today’s Prayer
Father, let me refrain from passing judgment on others without ever having walked a day in their shoes. I know not what their life is like and mine is surely not the perfect one from where I can sit in judgment. Help me work on myself to become a better person before I criticize others for that which I may be lacking also. Amen.

Personal Reflection
How many times have you judged someone unfairly? How would you feel if God judged you on one instance of misdeed rather than looking at the whole you?
